For the next two weeks, we are going to spend the class time to develop your final project. This year's final project is for you to design a travel itinerary to China.
Setting: You are given $5000 budget to spend 3 weeks in China. You need to design an all inclusive tour to China, including: transportation, food, lodging, daily activity and shopping expanses.
Sample Itinerary: You are going to write up your itinerary entirely in Chinese. But here a link to a typical group tour itinerary for you reference so that you can get a sense of how your day might be while in China: http://www.chinaodysseytours.com/tours/code_essentialtour-select-06.html
Places: you have the freedom to design where you want to visit. However, the regions you are visiting need to be diversified. So, you need to include a metropolitan city such Beijing or Shanghai, you need to visit at least a East Coast place, A Inland place, A Special Administration place, such as Hong Kong or Macau. You might include Taiwan as well.
Requirement:
1. Before you can actually buy your airline tickets and make bookings for hotels etc., you need to get a visa to enter China. Please make sure you understand the type of visa you are applying, the length of stay allowed as well as required documents to get a visa successfully. Here is the Chinese embassy where you can check out for information: http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/visas/
2. You need to use real life scenario while booking airline tickets, hotels and restaurants. A good place to use is http://www.baidu.com
3. You can't join a group tour. You have to individually design your daily activity, such as tourist spots, price of tickets, transportation to and out of there. A good source for that is either Google Map , or Baidu Map.
4. Your goal to see as much as possible in China and do the most interesting things to you. So, please include as much information as you can. The $5000 need to be spent relentlessly, but also you need to not overspend it.
Deadline:
You are going to turn in the final project, either digitally or hard copy by the last class. During this next two weeks, you need to come in to each class with progress in draft for me to correct, so that your final project will be error free. Your final grade will be based on your project write up as well as Oral Presentation during class.
